So you did it, you got an 2OC and wonder what to do first ?

Ok, here it goes
 
  • Start the rack and hold down the big red knob, that will get you to the app selector.
  • Choose the app you want to try. We suggest to start with the 4 LFOs as they provide instant gratification.
  • Plug a cable in one of the 4 CV outs and feed it into a CV receptor…voila, 0-10V 
  • Adjust parameters like frequency or spread with the red and blue knob 
  • The up/down switch also changed parameters in coarse jumps.
 
Ok, hold it there…
 
Press the big red knob for 3 seconds…the app selector will appear
 
Press it again for 2 second and a white square will fill the screen.
You just successfully saved your settings.

Upgrading the firmware : 

 
When we build your 2OC we always flash it with the latest official firmware 
But this is a living project and Max and the crew are constantly working of new versions
 
So if you find a new one on this site that is not displayed when you start your 2OC you can update it very easily .
You need three things : 
 
  1. A mini USB cable
  2. The Teensy uloader program: https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/loader.html
  3. The latest firmware which is at this moment : Version 1.3.0
 
  • Install the loader and start the application
  • Drag the firmware file into the small loader window
  • Press the green button
  • Unscrew the module from your rack and place it on a non conductive surface
  • Turn on the rack.
  • Plug in your USB cable and press the button on the Teensy
  • The uploader should start flashing the chip and after 3 seconds you are up to date.
 
Don’t be scared, its impossible to brick the module.
 
 

Calibration : 

 
When we build the module we do a full calibration of all 8 channels.
Due to harsh temperature differences in planes and the place you live (especially Floria, uh, that’s a tough one) the resistance will change and so will the outputs.
If you notice a drift (in a Buchla system, lol) you can hold down the blue encoder on start and enter the world of calibration.
Make sure to press NO when it asks to use defaults or you delete the calibration done by us.
But no panic, there is a second stage where you need to save if. If it happens just switch it off.
 
  • Turn on your rack and wait half an hour. By then it should have taken on your working temperature .
  • Connect a multimeter to output A and your common ground.
The 2OC will display a new setting for every press on the red encoder.
If you press the blue one you go one step back…or you dial back and forth with the blue one.
 
  • So navigate to the first value which should be 0V. 
  • Check your DMM and if it shows a significant drift dial it in with the red encoder
  • Advance to the next step and do it 40 times more… dooohh ! 
Then you will come to the ADC offset.
 
  • Make sure to dial this as close as possible to 0
  • Repeat for all four channels
  • Then connect a short cable from output D to CV A and make sure your DMM shows 1,2V. If that is the case confirm the offset by pressing the encoder for 2 sec.
  • Next step is the same procedure but for 3,6V
  • Set the timer for the screensaver in the next step
  • And when you are happy save your new calibration
 
Now make some music and stop obsessing 😉
