Hemisphere Gestures
Operating Hemispheres makes use of button combinations to perform various actions. See below for a complete list.
Certain applet (or parameter editing) contexts may override the default behaviour of the UP and DOWN buttons &/or the LEFT and RIGHT encoders.
Change left Hemisphere applet
Double press UP button to enter help screen. Select applet name with cursor (scroll with RIGHT encoder if necessary) and press RIGHT encoder to enter applet selection menu. Scroll menu with RIGHT encoder and press to select. Press UP or DOWN to escape without changing applet.
Change right Hemisphere applet Double press DOWN button to enter help screen. Select applet name with cursor (scroll with RIGHT encoder if necessary) and press RIGHT encoder to enter applet selection menu. Scroll menu with RIGHT encoder and press to select. Press UP or DOWN to escape without changing applet.
Open applet help screen Double press UP button for left hemisphere, double press DOWN button for right hemisphere
Open applet full screen view Open help screen (see above), and rotate LEFT encoder. Applets that make use of full screen include Scope, EuclidX, and Ebb&LFO
Open Clock / Trigger Setup
Press both UP + DOWN buttons together adjust internal BPM, swing, external sync, and per-trigger clock mult/div; remap trigger inputs (also available within the Config); and manually perform triggers.
Cycle Internal Clock state
Long-press LEFT Encoder (or press Z on T4.1) Stop -> Arm (i.e. play on next input trigger) -> Start
Open Hemisphere Config menu
Long-press DOWN button (or press Y on T4.1). Scroll pages with LEFT encoder, scroll options with RIGHT encoder Load/save presets; adjust trigger length; select screensaver and cursor mode; toggle auto-MIDI out; trigger and CV input mapping; quantizer settings; applet filtering
Enter main Menu
Hold UP + RIGHT Encoder
Save Settings to EEPROM
Long-press RIGHT encoder again while on main menu
When we build your xOC we always flash it with the latest official firmware
But this is a living project and Max and the crew are constantly working of new versions
So if you find a new one on this site that is not displayed when you start your xOC you can update it very easily .
You need three things :
A mini USB cable
The Teensy loader program: https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/loader.html
Powered by PHAZERVILLE
Latest firmware
Install the loader mating your operating system and start the application
Drag the firmware file into the small Teensy loader window
Press the green AUTO button
Plug in your USB cable and turn on the Easel.
Press the right encoder to get into App selection and navigate up to Setup/About
Click the encoder to enter the Setup
Dial the left encoder to REFLASH and press the encoder
The uploader should start flashing the chip and after 3 seconds you are up-to-date.
Don’t be scared, it’s almost impossible to brick the module.
When we build the module we do a full calibration of all channels.
Due to harsh temperature differences in planes and the place you live the resistance will change and so will the outputs.
If you notice a drift you can hold down the left/upper encoder on start and enter the world of calibration.
Make sure to press NO when it asks to use defaults, or you delete the calibration done by us.
But no panic, there is a second stage where you need to save if. If it happens just switch it off right away
Turn on your Easel and wait a few Minutes. By then it should have taken on your working temperature .
Connect a multimeter with a banana cable to the blue output A and the other one your common ground in the back of the Easel.
Open the trimmers all the way fully clockwise until they reach the end and keep em there.
The cardOCT40 will display a new setting for every press on the right encoder.
If you press the left encoder you go one step back…or you dial back and forth with for fast movements.
So navigate to the first value which should be 0V.
If your rack has a 0V of 500 to 100 mV add this value to each calibration step.
Check your DMM and if it shows a significant drift dial it in with the red encoder
Advance to the next step and do it 40 times more… dooohh !
Then you will come to the ADC offset.
Make sure to dial this as close as possible to 0
Repeat for all four channels
Then connect a short cable from output D to CV A and make sure your DMM shows 1,2V. If that is the case confirm the offset by pressing the encoder for 2 sec.
Next step is the same procedure but for 3,6V
Set the timer for the screensaver in the next step
And when you are happy save your new calibration
