A new take of the edgy, arcane, harsh and pumping pulse wave synth called “Edges” made once by Mutable Instruments
The 2AS at its core provides 4 fully CV-controlled 8-BIT chiptune style voices.
Each voice has a pitch CV input , a gate , audio FM and a coarse pitch knob.
There is hard sync from 1to2 and ring mod from 1to2 and 1to3 available
Voice 4 is a digital pseudo random noise generator
All outs are being summed in a diode clipper distortion stage and are limited to 1.7V
And for the extra level of Space feeling we put in a powerful effect engine providing Reverb, Delay , 24 bit crushing a chorus and two wave folding engines to power your drones.
This engine is our first endeavor into the Daisy ecosystem and will only grow bigger over time.
We also added Midi IN to play each voice with external keyboards or sequencers.
MIDI Learn: Press this button and send a midi note. The device will use that channel as the base channel
MIDI Mode: This button cycles between four operational modes.
1. 4 single voices trigger on 4 midi channels starting on the base MIDI channel
2. Full Poly mode where each voice plays on a different note on the same midi channel
3. Limited Poly or Chord mode where only the first three voices are used
4. UNISON .. all four voices play a monophonic but brutal crescendo !
Effect Section Quickstart :
Since V2 all effects are available at the same time.
Due to the simplified interface only two pots are used to control 10 or more effect parameters.
The parameters are paired and the encoder rotation flicks through the pages.
All effects are nulled on reboot or on encoder press.
The pots need to pick up the levels…so dial them back and forth until the LEDs change level.
Red – Green : Delay – send effect
Left pot blends in delay and sets the time from ccw slow to cw fast
Right pot sets the amount of feedback
Yellow – Green Reverb – send effect
Left pot blends in the Reverb and adjust the space
Right pot adjusts the clarity of the reflections
Green – Green – insert effect
Left pot is a bit crusher from 24bit down to 3bit when fully cw
Right Pot is a chorus
Red blink – Green – insert effect
Left pot increases the level of wave folder up to 4 times
Right pot adds low pass filtering to bend squares into triangle waves
Green blink – Green – insert effect
Left pot adds additional negative folds animated by an LFO
Right pot adds additional positive folds animated by an LFO
3 Square/pulse generators
- Aliasing-free digital synthesis, based on a 4 MHz digital timer.
- 5 preset duty cycles settings, from 50% to 95%, or CV-controlled PWM.
1 Noise and triangle generator
- 48kHz, 12-bit DAC without reconstruction filter for a raw sound.
- Triangle, bit crushed sine, steppy NES triangle or various flavors of LSFR noise.
Advanced features
- Optional semitone quantizer on the pitch CV input.
- Per-channel mini step sequencer (8 steps) – perfect for creating rapid fire arpeggios. When the sequencer is active, the GATE input works instead as a CLOCK input.
